The ground-breaking ceremony for the new five-story building was held on August 24th, 2023, at the school premises with the participation of many old boys and invitees. It has been a long-felt need to expand some of the existing facilities of the college to accommodate the ever-increasing student population. One of the primary objectives of the project is to enhance the AL science faculty. To achieve this, an investment of Rs 12 million was made to refurbish the science lab section with modern facilities. Dr. Jagath Alwis spearheaded this project, which was fully completed last year and is now functioning well, providing AL students with enhanced facilities to improve their knowledge. Subsequently, a new project was discussed and agreed upon with Dr. Alwis to construct a new five-story building to house the entire AL science section under one roof, with easy access to the science labs. The new building will be connected to the old building, providing convenient access to all lab facilities, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Dr. Jagath Alwis, a distinguished old boy of Isipathana College, has generously committed to funding the entire project, estimated at Rs 520 million. The project has been approved by the Ministry of Education and all relevant local authorities, including the UDA, CMC, CEB, Water Board, Fire Department, and Aviation Authority. The Isipathana College Old Boys’ Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Dr. Jagath Alwis as the financial sponsor, has reached a tri-party agreement for the building project
